COLLEGE BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Titan Women Rally to Upset Victory

Despite shooting 31.4% from the field in the second half, the Cal State Fullerton women’s basketball team erased a 10-point halftime deficit and went on to upset UC Santa Barbara, 75-71, in a Big West Conference women’s basketball game at Fullerton.

The Titans trailed, 45-35, at halftime but rallied behind Shayla Bradshaw, who scored 20 points to help them improve to 4-18 and 3-11. Santa Barbara is 13-10 and 10-5.

Marissa Frial added 15 points and 10 rebounds and Shefonda Colbert 13 points for Fullerton.

In another Big West women’s game:

UC Irvine 64, Nevada 63--Michelle Kahler made a jump shot with one second remaining to give Irvine the victory.

The Anteaters (3-19, 2-12) led by eight points with five minutes to play, but the Wolf Pack scrambled back and took the lead, 63-62, on Amy Branch’s jumper with 25 seconds left.

UC Irvine, which had not scored in more than three minutes, then called a timeout and set up Kahler’s game-winner.

Allah-Mi Basheer led the Anteaters with 15 points and 11 rebounds.

In the National Christian College Assn. Regional Semifinals:

Pacific Christian 93, San Jose Christian 85--Charles Ross scored a game-high 30 points and was named most valuable player of the National Christian College Assn. men’s basketball tournament in San Jose.

Chuck Henderson also had 24 points, as Pacific Christian (24-15) now advances to the national finals March 3 in Springfield, Mo.

Brad Erickson led San Jose Christian (21-10) with 22 points.

In Golden State Athletic Conference women’s basketball:

Concordia 82, California Baptist 76--After trailing the first 29 minutes, Concordia took the lead and never trailed. Gitte Mejer had 25 points and 14 rebounds for Concordia (15-11, 5-4).

Demetria Dixon had 33 points, including three three-pointers, for Cal Baptist (6-20, 1-7).

Fresno Pacific 55, Southern California College 45--Southern California College (21-7, 4-4) trailed by two at the half but was outscored, 26-18, the rest of the way. Sanja Simidzija led SCC with 16 points and 19 rebounds.

In Golden State Athletic Conference men’s basketball:

California Baptist 89, Concordia 74--Eric Dahl scored 37 points, including eight three-pointers, to lead Cal Baptist (13-14, 5-6).

Vujadin Jovic had 19 points and 10 rebounds and Craig Martin scored 16 points, including three three-pointers, for Concordia (15-13, 3-7).

Fresno Pacific 77, Southern California College 72--Southern California College (13-15, 2-8) had a nine-point lead at the half but couldn’t hold it. Todd Anderson led SCC with 20 points.
