OXNARD : Bank Robber Will Serve Prison Term

Share

A 26-year-old Oxnard man was sentenced on Friday to eight years and nine months in prison after pleading guilty to bank robberies in Oxnard and Las Vegas, Nev.

James Guadalupe Beltran admitted to the robbery of a Bank of America branch on Saviers Road in Oxnard on Oct. 19, 1992, the FBI said. Beltran was identified after pictures from the bank’s surveillance cameras were printed in the local media.

Beltran was arrested less than a month after the Oxnard bank robbery, when police in Phoenix, Ariz., pulled him over for a traffic violation. The officers found that a warrant had been issued for Beltran’s arrest.

After he was caught, Beltran was connected with several earlier bank robberies in Las Vegas, the FBI said. In a plea-bargain, he pleaded guilty last Dec. 13 to two robberies in Las Vegas and one in Oxnard.

In addition to the prison term, U.S. District Judge Phillip M. Pro in Las Vegas sentenced Beltran to three years of supervised release.
