U.N. Condemnation of Killings Delayed
The Security Council on Saturday postponed for a second day condemnation of Friday’s massacre of Palestinians by an Israeli at a Hebron mosque. Disagreement over the text of a resolution was cited as the reason for the delay.
The council will make another attempt to draft a resolution Monday, diplomats said.
Negotiations continued for much of Saturday among the United States, the Palestine Liberation Organization and diplomats from Islamic countries.
They agreed earlier that the council will work on a resolution, rather than just a statement. A resolution carries greater weight.
