Cambrian Systems Inc. named David H. Begin its president and chief executive officer and said Begin has acquired a controlling stake in the privately held maker of computer disk-drive test equipment.

As head of the Simi Valley company, Begin succeeds the late Phillip G. Halamandaris, who died in December.

Begin was formerly chief operating officer of Akashic Memories, a San Jose-based maker of computer hard disks.
