Toyota Says It Will Set Targets to Buy U.S. Parts: Toyota Motor Corp., Japan’s No. 1 auto maker, said it is willing to set voluntary targets to buy U.S. auto parts, provided the United States doesn’t resort to retaliatory trade measures. Toyota is considering a target of $6 billion worth of U.S. parts by its 1996 fiscal year. That would include parts sold to its assembly plants within the States.
