Tellers believes the league will be tough this season, but with 10 returning starters, he also thinks his team can weather the storm. “Our returning players have lots of playing experience, but pitching will be the key,” Tellers said. Although he thinks the Raiders will do well on offense and defense, he admits his team will need luck on its side if it is going to make a title run. Last year, the Raiders finished last (3-12), but still managed to place four players on first and second all-league teams. Although Sonora lost two key players in Todd Vorrell and Peter Lythgoe to graduation, Tellers has a feeling this team might surprise some people. “We didn’t get much (luck) last year,” he said, noting that eight games were lost by one run. “It’s tough to lose by one . . . but eight games?” Nevertheless, Tellers will try to keep the team focused and hope for some good pitching.
