Loral Aeronutronic: The Rancho Santa Margarita-based company said Monday that it has been awarded a contract worth $24.7 million from McDonnell Douglas Aerospace to make an additional 17 Nite Hawk targeting systems for the U.S Navy and the government of Switzerland. The contract increases Loral Aeronutronic’s orders for Nite Hawks in fiscal 1994 to 57 systems, valued at as much as $137 million. The company said deliveries will begin in October, 1995, and run through September of the following year.

The Nite Hawk is a radar system that helps pilots find and track targets at night. A subsidiary of Loral Corp., a high-tech company in New York City, Loral Aeronutronic designs and makes tactical weapons systems.
