Florida Files Charges Against MetLife Agents: The state accused 87 agents of Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. of fraudulent sales practices. The charges followed an agreement by MetLife that could lead to the company paying nearly $100 million in fines and restitution. The penalties are to settle charges that agents sold life insurance policies to people who thought they were purchasing retirement plans. The agents face administrative penalties ranging from fines and probation to suspension or revocation of their insurance sales licenses, the state Department of Insurance said.
