SIERRA MADRE : Search Continues for Man, Son Missing After Flood

Share

Crews dug up a mud-filled catch basin Wednesday, looking for a man and his 9-year-old son three days after they disappeared during a flash flood.

Searchers used shovels and backhoes to dig in the basin at Bailey Canyon Wilderness Park in the San Gabriel Mountains foothills, said Police Sgt. Chris Christensen. John Henderson, 34, and his son, Matthew, were hiking in the picturesque canyon Sunday when a wall of mud and water roared into the basin without warning. Authorities believed they were killed.
