BRIEFLY : Politics: Speech on N. Ireland Conflict
Patrick Shannon is scheduled to speak on the Anglo-Irish conflict and the prospects for peace at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Midnight Special Bookstore in Santa Monica.
The 29-year-old Belfast native, who holds a master’s degree in Irish political studies from Queen’s University in Belfast, will analyze the conflict and discuss recent contacts between the British government and the Irish Republican Army. An open discussion will follow the talk.
