Heathrow Reports 2nd Attack in 30 Hours
Associated Press
LONDON —
Heathrow Airport came under mortar attack for the second time in 30 hours early today, but the shells failed to explode and nobody was hurt.
On Wednesday night, four mortar shells were fired at the airport that also failed to explode. The Irish Republican Army was blamed for that attack.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for today’s attack. But Gerry Adams, president of Sinn Fein, the IRA’s political arm, had warned after the first attack that more would come if Britain did not accommodate IRA demands.
