Home Sales Rise Again: Nearly 13,000 units were sold in the six-county Southern California area last month, up 7.5% from January and 26.4% higher than a year earlier, Dataquick Information Systems said. It was the eighth straight month in which sales showed a year-over-year gain. Month-to-month sales climbed 14.5% in Los Angeles County, despite the lingering effects of the January earthquake, and surged 65% in Orange County. Prices were flat or slightly higher than a year ago in San Diego, Riverside and Ventura counties. Prices were down about 3% from year-earlier levels in Orange and Los Angeles counties, but the research firm said that the worst of the prolonged drop in prices appears to be over.
