An ex-felon convicted of sexually assaulting six women and one man was sentenced today to more than 159 years in state prison.

Calling Monette Johnson of Lake View Terrace a “menace to society,” Superior Court Judge John Fisher sentenced him to the maximum term for the crimes he committed during a roughly seven-month spree.

Johnson, 35, was convicted last month of eight counts of rape and five other counts.

A seven-man, five-woman jury also found him guilty of six counts each of robbery and burglary, and a single charge of receiving stolen property. The panel deliberated less than two days.

“He should be taken off the streets and never set free again,” Deputy Dist. Atty. Phillip Rabichow said.

Johnson will be eligible for parole in 79 years and eight months, Rabichow said.

The prosecutor said Johnson stalked his victims before breaking into their San Fernando Valley-area homes and sexually assaulting and robbing them. The attacks occurred between July, 1991, and his arrest on Jan. 9, 1992.

Johnson, who has a lengthy rap sheet, had been released on parole after serving time for extortion before his first attack, Rabichow said.
