NORTHRIDGE : Man Suspected of Impersonation Held

Share

A Northridge man was arrested Wednesday morning in Thousand Oaks when he used flashing red lights mounted on his pickup truck in an attempt to zip around rush-hour traffic, Ventura County sheriff’s deputies said.

As he forced other motorists aside on the Moorpark Freeway at Olsen Road, Roger Prince was spotted by two sheriff’s deputies returning to the East Valley sheriff’s station at the end of their shift.

When the deputies tried to pull Prince over, he briefly led them on a chase before stopping in a residential area near Calle Tulipan, Sgt. Keith Parks said.

Prince, 21, was taken into custody on suspicion of impersonating a peace officer and evading arrest and booked into jail at the East Valley station.

He was released later in the day.

Parks said Prince was apparently using the lights to bypass morning traffic by appearing to be an emergency vehicle.

Two passengers in Prince’s pickup truck were not cited.
