Girl Adds Meaning to Anti-Crime Ads
A somber, 14-year-old girl who has lost six friends to gunfire joined President Clinton on Thursday to launch anti-crime ads.
“Guns have been a part of my life since the age of 12,” Alicia Brown said in a halting voice. “I know how important it is for me to be here because last week my classmate was shot down.”
From the White House, the eighth-grader was headed for the funeral of 13-year-old Tasha Pitts, who last week became the District of Columbia’s youngest homicide victim this year.
Clinton tells viewers: “Unfortunately, Alicia’s story is all too common. . . . We must give Alicia and all our children back their childhood.”
