Two breakup rumors circulating in recent days can be put to rest--for now, at least. One had Linda Perry leaving 4 Non Blondes for a solo career, but the band (which is looking for a new guitarist) is preparing to begin a new album, expected to be released in September . . .

The other rumor concerned White Zombie. Singer Rob Zombie announced a split on stage during Rip magazine’s concert/party at the Palladium last week, but what really happened was the group fired drummer Philo Buerstatte. With a replacement not chosen, the rest of the group is preparing for the follow-up to its Beavis and Butt-head-assisted hit, “Le Sexorcisto.” . . .

In the tradition of the English Beat and the Charlatans U.K., the group Suede will now be known Stateside as the London Suede, the result of a settlement with a Washington, D.C., band that had been using the original name for several years. The English group has a new single, “Stay Together,” out in the U.K. and plans to record its second album in the spring, for fall release. . . .

The Indigo Girls, with a new album titled “Swamp Ophelia” due in mid-April, guest on an album by the New Mongrels, an amalgamation of lesser-known Atlanta and Seattle musicians. The Mongrels’ album will be released April 1 on Daemon Records, the label owned and run by Indigo Girl Amy Ray.
