Spectrum Names Successor to Sculley: Spectrum Information Technologies Inc. said it has appointed a former banker and member of its board to succeed ex-Chairman John Sculley, who resigned last month, saying the wireless-data company had covered up its financial problems. Edward W. Maskaly, 56, will be the new chairman and chief executive. He has worked for NatWest and Manufacturers Hanover banks. Maskaly has been a director of Spectrum since 1992 and headed the firm’s audit committee. Sculley, former chairman of Apple Computer Inc., quit Spectrum on Feb. 7, just four months after he surprised the business world by joining the tiny Manhasset, N.Y.-based company.
