Biopool International’s Profits Tumble in ’93
Biopool International Inc., a Ventura maker of test kits for diagnosing blood disorders, said its profit increased 6% in the fourth quarter but its profits suffered a significant decline for 1993.
For the quarter ended Dec. 31, Biopool reported a profit of $198,993, compared with earnings of $188,292 for the same period a year earlier. Revenue in the latest quarter rose 16% to $1.11 million, from $956,898.
But for all of 1993, Biopool’s profit fell 42% to $360,729, from $626,670 for the previous year. Revenue for 1993 totaled $4.31 million, down 11% from $4.87 million. Biopool said its performance in 1993 was hurt by the unfavorable exchange rate of the Swedish krona, which resulted in reduced revenue at the company’s Swedish subsidiary, Biopool AB.
