NBA ROUNDUP : Rockets Join List in Playoffs
Hakeem Olajuwon scored 13 of his 35 points in the final 10 minutes, leading Houston to a 128-112 victory over Washington on Monday night and clinching a playoff spot for the Rockets at Houston.
Olajuwon also had 14 rebounds.
Houston guard Vernon Maxwell sprained his left knee on a drive down the lane in the third quarter. His condition was listed as day to day, but the team said he will not accompany it on the trip to Minnesota tonight.
Houston became the third team to clinch a playoff spot, joining Seattle and San Antonio.
Atlanta 100, Utah 96--Stacey Augmon’s dunk with 28 seconds to play broke a 96-96 tie and Kevin Willis made two free throws with three seconds left as the Hawks edged the Jazz in overtime at Atlanta.
It was the third victory in a row for the Hawks and the fourth consecutive loss for the Jazz, who completed a four-game trip.
