Darci Steere had 32 points and 17 rebounds as North Dakota State defeated undermanned Cal State San Bernardino, 89-56, Saturday night at Fargo, N.D., to win its second consecutive NCAA Division II women’s basketball championship.

San Bernardino (29-4) started the game with only eight players, and lost two more to fouls early in the second half.

San Bernardino’s Tammie Beckley suffered an injured right knee and leading scorer Kim Young limped off the floor with a twisted ankle, but returned when Beckley chased a loose ball into a table on the sidelines and had to be carried off the court.

Chery’ll Few led San Bernardino, which moved up from Division III in 1991 and was playing in its first NCAA Division II tournament, with 25 points.
