TUSTIN : 2 Nominated for Best Schools Award
A team from the state Department of Education visited A.G. Currie Middle School last week to evaluate the school’s programs as part of the process for selecting this year’s best schools in California.
The school was among 103 middle schools and 76 high schools across the state nominated for the 1994 California Distinguished School award, school officials said.
“It’s a tremendous honor,” said Dan Brooks, principal of the school, where more than 1,000 students are enrolled. “The students can start walking with their heads held high.”
This is the first time the school has been nominated for the award, he said.
Another school in the Tustin Unified district, Foothill High School, has also been nominated for the award. The schools were culled from an original list of more than 700 schools, district officials said.
Winners will be announced in April.
