A 2-year-old Canadian girl won a luxury convertible sports car in a raffle, a spokesman said Friday.

Thirty-month-old Kayla Chambers’ name was drawn for the $59,600 1994 Jaguar XJS in a March 24 raffle.

“When we called (the Chambers) and asked to speak to Kayla, it was 11 at night and Kayla was in bed,” said Andrew Latta, special projects coordinator for the Edmonton Opera, which held the raffle.

Kayla’s grandfather, Ezra Chambers, 52, gave her the winning raffle ticket in December.

“He bought the whole family tickets for Christmas,” Kayla’s aunt, Kim Chambers, said. “But he really didn’t know the prizes when he bought them.”

Latta said rules of the Alberta Gaming Commission, which oversees raffles in the province of Alberta, state that Kayla cannot claim the prize until she reaches adulthood.

The Jaguar will be sold and the money will be put into a trust fund for the girl.

“On her 21st birthday it will be worth about $267,325,” Chambers said.
