AmeriQuest To Acquire Valley Software Distributor: As part of the consolidation of the personal computer industry, Kenfil Inc. of Van Nuys will become a division of AmeriQuest Technologies. The all-stock deal will nearly triple the Irvine-based microcomputer parts distributor’s annual sales. Some layoffs among the 300 employees are likely among warehousing and administrative positions. Kenfil, with 150 employees and $191 million in sales last year, is one of the nation’s largest software distributors. AmeriQuest, formerly called CMS Enhancements, has begin an aggressive expansion campaign after shrinking from $200 million in sales in 1989 to just $73 million last year. At Tuesday’s closing price of $4.50 for AmeriQuest common stock, the deal would be worth $17.5 million. But the value will depend on the stock prices when shares are exchanged in two installments 60 and 105 days from now.
