Winnie Parry Crookston of Camarillo has died at the age of 103.

Her daughter, Maxine Schmidt of Camarillo, said her mother attributed her longevity to no drugs, alcohol or coffee.

“She lived a good clean life,” Schmidt said.

Until last year, Crookston used a walker to take daily walks around her neighborhood at Ripley Street in the west end of Camarillo.

But eventually she had to give up her walks.

“She gradually wore out,” Schmidt said. “She died of old age.”

Crookston, who was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, moved to Ventura County in 1971. She lived in Ventura for three years, then moved to Camarillo to be near her daughter.

In addition to her daughter, she is survived by a son, Wayne G. Crookston of Boise, Idaho, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Burial was last week in Salt Lake City.
