ANAHEIM : 63 Service Groups to Get Disney Awards
Disneyland will hand out $300,000 to 63 Orange County service organizations at its annual Community Service Awards luncheon today.
In its 37th year, the Disney awards salute the work of deserving nonprofit organizations in Orange County. Service organizations in 10 categories will be recognized: Cultural Arts, Educational, Service for Youth, Accomplishments by Youth Groups, Special Health Services, Accomplishments by Support Groups, Social Community Service, Civic Community Service, Service By or For Senior Citizens, and Environment, Ecology and Energy.
In each category, there will be five awards of $3,000, and one of $7,000. In addition, two groups will receive the $15,000 Special Judges Award, and one organization will receive the Outstanding Award of $50,000.
Lunch, which is free to attending service organization members, will be served at noon, and the awards presentation starts at 1 p.m. The event is being held in the Grand Ballroom at the Disneyland Hotel, 1150 W. Cerritos Ave., Anaheim.
