William W. Morison; Former Chairman of McKesson Corp.

William W. Morison, 81, retired chairman of the board for McKesson Corp., a San Francisco-based firm that focuses on health care services and products. Morison joined Golden State Co., a predecessor to Foremost Dairies Inc. and Foremost-McKesson, in 1945. Morison was named president of McKesson in 1971 and added the title of chief executive officer in 1974. He was elected chairman of the board in 1978. Morison graduated from UC Berkeley in 1936. He served as a lieutenant commander in the Navy from 1942 to 1945. Morison also served as president of the United Way of the Bay Area, and was director of the National Council for U.S.-China Trade, the California Round Table and other organizations. He was a director of Pacific Telephone and the California State University and Colleges Fund. In San Francisco on Thursday of cancer.
