Multimedia: In a deal that reflects the evolution of interactive entertainment, Los Angeles-based Activision has signed an agreement with “Demolition Man” co-screenwriter Peter Lenkov to write and develop a new series of CD-ROM computer and video games. Lenkov plans to create a futuristic “cyber universe” with characters and stories that may later be adapted to TV and film. As new technology has transformed games that were once crude and jerky into something more aesthetically akin to interactive movies, with highly realistic animation and live-action video, the evolution in plot and character has for the most part lagged behind. Now multimedia developers are beginning to turn to Hollywood writers to supply more sophisticated stories to match the technology.
