U.S. Ready to Hike Canada Wheat Tariffs: The government plans the action to limit imports if a trade dispute is not settled in a week, U.S. Agriculture Secretary Mike Espy said at a global trade meeting in Marrakech, Morocco. Espy and U.S. Trade Representative Mickey Kantor met their Canadian counterparts repeatedly over two days, but no deal was reached. Kantor said that if a deal is not struck by next Friday, the United States will try to stop what it considers unfairly subsidized Canadian wheat sales that hurt U.S. farmers.
