WILSHIRE DISTRICT : Country Club Settles Discrimination Suit

Share

The Wilshire Country Club reached a confidential settlement in a lawsuit brought by a former employee who claimed that the club discriminated against black workers, the woman’s attorney said Monday.

As a condition of the settlement, the amount was kept confidential, said attorney Dan Stormer, who represents Margaret Inyama.

The plaintiff, who was a cook at the club, claimed that the discrimination included forcing black employees to park in separate parking lots from whites.

The 52-year-old Baldwin Hills resident also claimed that she was physically abused by her boss, who allegedly pushed her against the side door of a walk-in freezer so hard that she had to get medical treatment.

Inyama, who was on a disability leave when the suit was filed, has been unable to return to work because of complications unrelated to the lawsuit, Stormer said.
