American Airlines parent AMR Corp. said its first-quarter loss narrowed due to cost reductions and the continued restructuring of its business.

AMR said it lost $7 million, or 30 cents a share, compared to $22 million, or 43 cents, in first quarter 1993. After accounting for preferred dividend payments, the company said its overall loss amounted to $23 million, compared to $32 million a year earlier.

Revenues dipped less than 1% to $3.808 billion from $3.814 billion.

AMR attributed the loss to bad weather and air fare price cuts.
