Microsemi Forms Semiconductor Venture With Firm in China

Microsemi Corp. said Thursday that it has agreed to form a joint venture in China with Shanghai Electrical Apparatus Corp. to manufacture semiconductor products.

Microsemi, based in Santa Ana, will own 60% of the joint venture, which will be near Shanghai Electrical’s plant in Shanghai. The manufacturing plant is scheduled to be completed in a year.

The joint venture could prompt a slight increase in U.S. jobs if Microsemi gains significant access to the Chinese market, Microsemi Vice President David R. Sonksen said.
