Thousands Line Up to Remember Lenin
Thousands of people with Soviet flags and red carnations lined up on Red Square to pay their respects to V. I. Lenin on Friday, the 124th anniversary of his birth.
Russian newspapers published several stories about Lenin and the modern significance of what was among the most important dates in the former Soviet Union.
On a bright, crisp day, as many as 10,000 people silently filed through Lenin’s chilly mausoleum to view the body preserved under glass. Many of the mostly elderly visitors brought flowers, flags and portraits of Lenin.
