Bid for America West Retained: An investment group will continue with its $245-million bid to buy America West Airlines after agreeing to new bidding provisions. The new agreement allows AmWest Partners to seek Bankruptcy Court approval for compensation up to $4 million if the Phoenix-based carrier, operating under Chapter 11 Bankruptcy Court protection, selects another offer. Last week, AmWest Partners said it might drop the bid after the Bankruptcy Court opposed a proposal that would have awarded the investment group up to $8 million in break-up fees.
