Tara Oettinger

Foothill, Jr.

Track / Sprints-long jump

Oettinger’s performance Saturday at the Orange County Championships was unprecedented. It’s not just that she won county titles in four events--the long jump, the 100, 200 and 400 meters--but how she won them. Each of her marks is among the top five in the history of the meet. In the long jump, her specialty, she went 18 feet 2 1/2 inches. That’s 9 1/4 inches short of her season best, but the third best mark in county meet history. Her 12.43 in the 100 and 25.17 in the 200 were each the fourth best ever and in the 400, her time (57.72) was the fifth best.

Other notables:

* Andrea Pickett, Pacifica, batted .778 with five walks and three RBIs as the Mariners tied first-place Kennedy and won two other games.

* Stefanie Noffsinger, Huntington Beach, pitched a no-hitter, striking out 13, in a 5-0 victory over Edison.
