Plan to Bolster Peso Announced: The United States, Mexico and Canada unveiled the $8.7-billion proposal to protect Mexico’s battered currency against further speculative attacks. The pledge of funds, consisting basically of credit lines among central banks of the three countries, seems designed to bolster investor confidence in Mexico since the assassination last month of Luis Donald Colosio, the ruling party’s presidential candidate.
