Companies Enter R&D; Pact: Sun Microsystems Inc. said it has agreed with Fujitsu Ltd. to jointly provide research and development funds for the coordinated design of future Sun computer chips. The two companies said they have committed more than $500 million over the next five years to the project. They said they signed separate agreements that will extend for five years Fujitsu’s contract to sell and service Sun products in Japan.
