Long Beach Woman Gains Seat on Development Board

Victoria Rodriguez Fullerton of Long Beach has been named to the board of directors of the California American Woman’s Economic Development Corp., a nonprofit organization that provides business training for women interested in starting or expanding businesses. Fullerton helped found Long Beach-based MRA Inc., which offers services to contain health care costs.

Goodwill Industries of Long Beach and South Bay recently appointed Linda Lee Saleski as president and chief executive officer. Saleski held a similar position with Goodwill in Macon, Ga.

Cerritos High School senior Melissa Wiley and Millikan High School senior Louis Wharton have won $2,000 National Achievement Scholarships. They were among 600 young black Americans who competed for the privately funded scholarship, which were begun in 1964 to honor black students and increase their educational opportunities.

The Executives Assn. of Long Beach, a group with businesses in the greater Long Beach area, has announced its 1994-95 officers: President Al Oberjuerge of Oberjuerge Auto Repair, Vice President Roger Lockwood of Earthscapes Custom Landscaping and Secretary Doug Shea of INCO Co.

The Long Beach-based cable television comedy team of Ron Petke and Ed Bell have been nominated to receive a 1994 local CableAce Award given by the National Academy of Cable Programming to recognize outstanding achievement in local cable television. The comedy team has appeared intermittently since the late ‘70s on CVI Cablevision Industries channel in Long Beach.

Long Beach City College students Andrew Ashton and Daniel Reeder, both of Long Beach, and Anna Mota of Lakewood have won the General Motors Spirit Award, given to outstanding Long Beach City College students.
