An 11-year-old girl stole $3,730 from a bank by simply grabbing bagfuls of money from the counter, court officials in Dundee, Scotland, said Wednesday.

But she was not about to share the loot with her 12-year-old male accomplice--she gave him just one pound ($1.50) to buy candy.

The officials said the girl admitted stealing the money last July.

Police found a rucksack containing about a third of the stolen money in the girl’s house, the court was told Tuesday. The girl told police she had spent some of her haul and buried the rest. It was never recovered.

The boy, who pleaded guilty to a charge of receiving $3,730, was given one bag of money by the girl outside the bank. But on the way home, she retrieved it and gave him a one-pound coin to buy candy, the court heard. The two will be sentenced in three weeks.
