Soundgarden has finished its European tour and is back in Seattle, resting and rehearsing for its North American dates, which begin May 27 in Vancouver and will reach Los Angeles in July. No local venue has been announced yet. . . .

4AD Records has acquired the rights to an album by Lisa Germano that was released last year by Capitol and has released a remixed version. Germano is best known as the fiddle player in John Mellencamp’s band. The album credits include a tip of the hat to the old Capitol regime that originally signed her and was largely replaced last year. It reads: “Thank you to all the people at Capitol Records who suddenly aren’t there anymore.” . . . On Mellencamp’s upcoming Mercury album, Me’Shell NdegeOcello duets with the Indiana rocker on a version of Van Morrison’s “Wild Night.” . . .

Green Jelly’s next album, tentatively titled “333,” is due out in the early fall from Zoo Entertainment. Next Sunday the band will open its Ooz Production Studio at the Sunset Boulevard location of Frank Zappa’s old recording studio. . . .

Speaking of green, the English division of Reprise Records is putting out a green vinyl version of Green Day’s major-label debut, “Dookie.” You may be able to find it in import bins. . . .

Danzig’s drummer Chuck Biscuits and White Zombie’s singer Rob Zombie are among the artists contributing to the “True Cannibal Collector Post Card Set,” a taste-defying deck of 27 cards whose title is self-explanatory. Biscuits, Zombie and project creator Bad Otis Link Link will all be on hand for an opening of a show of the art on Saturday at 7 p.m. at La Luz de Jesus Gallery on Melrose. . . .

Discussions are under way for a Flying Burrito Brothers box set to mark the 25th anniversary of the pioneering country-rock band. Chris Hillman, who co-fronted the group with the late Gram Parsons, is combing through old tapes for unreleased studio and live tracks to include in the collection. . . .

The varied lineup at James Brown’s 66th birthday concert on Tuesday in Augusta, Ga., ranges from Bobby Brown and Hammer to the Oak Ridge Boys and Simply Red. . . . Jimmie Vaughan’s new “Strange Pleasure” album includes a tribute to his late brother, Stevie Ray. It’s titled “Six Strings Down.” . . .

Therapy? will do a duet with Ozzy Osbourne on “Iron Man” for the Black Sabbath tribute album that will be released in August. . . . Meanwhile, Vince Gill duets with Amy Grant on a love song on her album, which is due in late August.
