Safe Driving, Not Drunk Drivers, Is the Real Issue
* “Death at Roscoe and Corbin” (April 10) blames drunk driving for the problems at that intersection because one of the accidents involved a drunk driver.
In January, the police did a crackdown in that area and issued 417 citations, but only one of those motorists was cited for drunk driving. Obviously, the major offender at that and all other intersections is the inattentive, inconsiderate or just plain reckless sober driver who speeds, runs red lights and does not pay attention to the task at hand.
Yet the media continue to emphasize the drunk driver. Why not promote a safe-driving campaign aimed at all drivers?
