Gayle Wilson, wife of Gov. Pete Wilson, will join Assemblyman Nao Takasugi (R-Oxnard) this morning at the Thousand Oaks Teen Center, where local high school students will discuss their concerns about crime at a Youth Crime Summit.

The conference, scheduled to run from 9 to 11:30 a.m., is geared toward teen-agers because Takasugi is sponsoring a bill this year that affects juveniles and is interested in hearing their concerns, said Jaylene Hobrecht, Takasugi’s field representative.

Student representatives from 11 high schools in Port Hueneme, Camarillo, Oxnard, Moorpark and Thousand Oaks are expected to attend.

Takasugi’s bill calls for disclosing the names of juveniles who have committed or are suspected of a violent crime, Hobrecht said. Under the present law, the names of juvenile crime suspects are withheld by authorities.

Gayle Wilson was invited because she has expressed interest in the issue, Hobrecht said. Crime is one of the governor’s main themes in his reelection campaign.
