Georgia on Their Mind: Fans Say Owner Turned Rams Into a Farm Club

Share

You can’t have it both ways, Georgia: “It ain’t the soil that’s less fertile around these parts--it’s the crop that’s gone bad!”

Fifteen years of disastrous “leadership” of this once-proud NFL franchise has turned the team into the laughingstock of the league. Reasons for your team’s current plight do not lie with the city leaders of Anaheim, the Southern California fans or even the ghost of Dan Reeves. More likely, player acquisitions and trades (not to mention coaching choices during the last 12 years) involving the names Bartkowski, Brock, Hill (both Kent and Drew), Everett, Dickerson, Evans, Gary, Henley, Green, Lansford, might provide an oracle of light on your team’s perennially dismal condition.

No, Georgia, the blame falls squarely on you and your inability to further develop an L.A. fixture. You reap what you sow and your field of dreams has dried up. See ya!

Poor Georgia. She blames the fickleness of the fans for low attendance. Aren’t we terrible! After four losing seasons under her wondrous leadership . . .

Please move to Baltimore and leave the Rams here.

Georgia Frontiere was subjected to a merciless barrage of ridicule and contempt when she inherited the Rams. Most people suddenly finding themselves in possession of a multimillion-dollar NFL franchise would have turned hostile, but she handled it with extraordinary patience and good grace.

Last week, she explained in the same self-effacing way how she has agonized over whether to relocate the Rams. She seemed to genuinely care about the team and its fans.

In view of some of the egomaniacal nut cases who own pro sports franchises in this country--notably in Cincinnati, Washington and Dallas--she comes across as a very classy lady with no need to apologize to anyone.
