USAir Postpones Boeing Delivery: In a cost-cutting move, the airline delayed delivery of 40 jets and canceled options for another 76. Arlington, Va.-based USAir, which had planned to take delivery of 40 737s between 1997 and 2000, is delaying receipt until 2003 and 2005, according to documents filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. It’s too soon to say what effect USAir’s decision will have on Boeing production rates and employment, a company spokesman said. While the USAir move was “somewhat disappointing, I don’t think it’s a major blow for Boeing,” said analyst Robert Toomey with Piper Jaffray Inc. The airline canceled options for 63 737s, 11 757s and two 767s.
