Sony Launches Computer Division: Sony Corp. of America said it launched the new division to market computer hardware and software in the United States. Sony Computer Entertainment of America will focus on the company's new CD-based home video game system, PlayStation, and will be responsible for third-party video game software licensing. Stephen Race has been appointed executive vice president and general manager of the new division, the company said. The PlayStation incorporates advanced graphics and sound into a computer system. It is scheduled to be released in Japan by the end of 1994 and in the United States in 1995.
