Irvine-Based CareLine Agrees to Buy Pruner Ambulance Co.

Continuing its push to be the nation's largest ambulance company, CareLine Inc. said Wednesday it has agreed to buy Pruner Ambulance Co., a Ventura County ambulance operator. Terms of the pending deal were not disclosed.

The transaction, to be completed by next month, would be the latest in a string of acquisitions by CareLine, now the nation's second-largest ambulance company.

The Irvine-based company's recent purchases include LifeFleet Inc. in Newport Beach; Life Line EMS in Wichita Falls, Tex., and LifeLine Ambulance and Procor Ambulance, both in Philadelphia.
