PLATFORM : Malcolm and Hajj

Share

During Hajj, Malcolm realized the need for human understanding to overcome his personal problems about racism. The absence of racial images in Islam deters supremacy and facilitates pluralism within society. Malcolm manifested this doctrine, and his example for society went even deeper. He eliminated the inner oppressor to enable himself to fight the oppressors of the world. His introspection and intellectual honesty were the main driving forces for his evolution from a community activist to a world leader.

President Clinton has called for racial equality this week and said that we could no longer be two nations, separate and unequal. We can all enrich our human understanding by accepting Malcolm X as a living example of the Koranic principle: “God created you all out of a male and a female, and has made you into different nations and tribes, not to despise one another, but to learn from one another.”
