Share

The Police Department has been awarded a $200,000 federal grant to add two officers to its 91-member force for the next three years.

The Department of Justice Police Supplement Hiring Grant will pay half the salary and benefits of the officers. The city will match the grant money with asset seizure funds.

The officers will be assigned to the city’s crime-impact team, a component of the department’s new community-based policing program.
