Chapman University Prof. Ronald M. Huntington, who taught religion and philosophy at the school for 42 years, died last week. He was 64.

A resident of Santa Ana, Huntington was an accomplished organist who performed throughout Southern California for 20 years. He also taught others how to play.

“Ron not only studied the confluence of worship and the arts, he lived it,” said Chapman President James Doti in a message to the campus.

“During his four decades of service to Chapman, we were fortunate to share in his gifts, as were the residents of our wider community who heard his many organ performances at churches and in concerts,” Doti said.

He died May 15 and is survived by his son, Rommie, and brother, Robert.

A memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Chapman Auditorium in Orange. A private funeral will be held at Saddleback Chapel in Tustin.
