PALOS VERDES PENINSULA : Cities Seek Volunteers for Sheriff’s Department

Share

Three cities on the Palos Verdes Peninsula are seeking volunteers to work with the Lomita sheriff’s station.

Volunteers from Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills and Rolling Hills Estates will be trained to help the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, particularly during times of civil unrest or natural disaster.

“We’re organizing this at the request of the cities after we had some of our wonderful disasters over the past 1 1/2 years,” Lt. Jim Oneal said.

Director Helen Reardon of the Civilian Volunteer Program said more than 3,600 volunteers work for the 19 sheriff’s stations throughout Los Angeles County.

Volunteers must do at least 16 hours of work per month.

Team leaders have been selected from Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes, but Rolling Hills is still seeking leaders. Each city will have 10 volunteers.

Interested residents should contact their city hall.
