ARCADIA: A resident in the 2800 block of Caroline Way answered a knock on his door at 9:55 p.m. Saturday and discovered a man armed with a handgun. The visitor asked to speak to another resident of the house, who was not home at the time. He then aimed at the man who had answered the door and fired three times, police said. The resident, who quickly shut his door, was not hurt and called police. Fu Lin Wang, 46, of Alhambra, is being held in connection with the incident.

ARCADIA: A man was shot in the chest Sunday after he agreed to give a ride to a passerby. Dale Kittilsen, 35, was washing his truck on West Live Oak Avenue when he was approached by Henry Bustamante, an apparent transient, police said. Bustamante asked for a ride to the bus station and Kittilsen agreed. Bustamante allegedly then shot Kittilsen in the chest and fled in his truck. Sheriff’s deputies saw the truck a few hours later in Rosemead. Kittilsen was taken to Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena, where he was reported in good condition.

BALDWIN PARK: A 13-year-old boy died last Thursday after being hit by a car in front of Charles D. Jones Junior High School near Merced Avenue and Ahern Street, police said. John W. McPherson was struck at 7:47 a.m. as he stepped out into traffic, police said. The driver of the car, a 27-year-old woman, was not cited and was released at the scene. She had been driving her Chevy Blazer at less than 25 m.p.h., police said.

EL MONTE: A parolee suspected of robbing five San Gabriel Valley banks since early April was arrested May 18 after the FBI provided area police departments with descriptions of the robber and the vehicle used in the holdups. Arthur Taylor, 29, a transient who had been paroled from prison two months ago on a burglary conviction, was booked at El Monte Police Department jail on suspicion of robbery and weapons offenses, police said. Taylor was arrested with a loaded handgun in his jacket pocket at 7:50 p.m. after officers looking for drug traffic in the 2600 block of Peck Road saw him in a car described in an FBI bulletin. The driver of the car, Mark Jurado, 30, was arrested on suspicion of narcotics-related offenses, police said.

INDUSTRY: A 17-year-old Alhambra boy was shot and killed outside a karaoke club Friday, sheriff’s deputies said. Jeff Chiu was shot about 11 p.m in the parking lot of My Dearest Karaoke Club at 17355 Gale Ave. A fight that began inside the club moved into the parking lot, deputies said. The fight involved six youths, one of whom took a handgun from a car and shot Chiu in the torso, deputies said. Chiu was taken to Queen of the Valley Hospital in West Covina, where he died at 12:30 a.m. Saturday. No arrests have been made.

LA VERNE: A robbery at a Little Caesar’s restaurant in the 3800 block of Emerald Avenue led to a pursuit through three cities Saturday. Two men, one armed with a sawed-off shotgun, entered the pizza shop at 7:56 p.m. and demanded money. A nearby police officer saw the men leave in a truck and followed them. In the middle of the chase through Claremont and Pomona, one of the men jumped out of the truck and threw out the shotgun. He is still at large. The other man, William Gallegos, 25, of Pomona, crashed the truck into a parked car at 8:11 p.m. at Foothill Boulevard and Sumner Street in Pomona, police said. He is being held at the city jail on suspicion of armed robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.

ROSEMEAD: Foul play is suspected in the death of 25-year-old Tracy Lynn Adame, whose body was found last Thursday in her home in the 7700 block of Hellman Avenue, deputies said. Further information was not released.
